Why level your seams?

In short, it extends the life and even wear of your teak deck by decades.

The recent problem is that Plantation teak (30-50 year growth) — on most modern builds — is softer than old Burmese teak (100+ year growth). Harsh cleaners strip the soft cellulose on both and leave the hard lignin and the caulk standing proud. Once that happens, your scrub pad skips over the ridges, so you scrub harder, with stronger chemicals, and the deck starts to cup.

That cupping is what kills decks: water pools in the grooves, and every rinse and rain shower drives hydraulic wear deeper. Level the seams once a year and you cut cleaning time, delay sanding, and roughly double the life of the deck.

The story

Years of sliced fingers, burnt backs and chisels that weren't up to the job — on a 90m yacht with 12,000+ sq ft of teak, "good enough" isn't. So we built our own. Over 50 prototypes later, we had a tool that glides: no sticking, no dragging, just a smooth, controlled cut.
