Environmental Commitment
Ocean Positive Vibes – Established at Sea
At Simple Sailor, protecting the ocean isn’t just a promise — it’s at the heart of everything we do. Created by yacht crew for yacht crew, our products are designed to make yacht maintenance effortless while safeguarding the marine environments we love.
Our Simple Promise
We believe in making sustainability simple. Our yacht maintenance products are engineered from the ground up with no 'greenwashing'—just honest, effective solutions that are truly ocean-safe.
Simple, Transparent, OCEAN-DEGRADABLE™ Ingredients
"The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules."
— Pirate Hector Barbossa
We don’t play games with labels. No misleading ‘MARPOL APPROVED’ claims, no omitted hazardous ingredients, and no deceptive use of the term ‘biodegradable’ for products that only degrade in land-based environments. Instead, we adhere to our OCEAN-DEGRADABLE™ Promise, using marine-safe, non-toxic ingredients formulated with industrial chemists and ecotoxicology biologists. Some of our products even contain up to 100% food-grade ingredients, while others leverage smart organic extracts from the sea, such as algae and salts.
Because here, it’s that simple.

Our Simple S.E.A. Life Promise
At Simple Sailor Marine, our mission is clear:
Be the change, sea the difference, repeat.
As we grow, we commit to giving back through partnerships with SEATREES, an organization dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems. With every purchase, a portion of our profits supports:
- Seagrass, kelp, coral, and mangrove restoration
- Carbon offset initiatives through waste and packaging reduction
- Ocean pasture restoration
- Ocean acidification research and mitigation
By switching to Simple Sailor, yacht crews can reduce packaging waste by 80% by volume, while also cutting chemical use and cleaning time by up to 50% — leading to real environmental and operational savings.
Superyacht Carbon Credit Program
Superyachts using our products are eligible to receive carbon credits by recycling packaging or requesting a 'metric measure' of waste reduction.
What’s in the Bottles and Bags?
Traditional yacht cleaning products often contain harsh, unregulated chemicals that enter the ocean unchecked. Many brands mislead consumers with eco-labeling that doesn’t reflect the true impact of their products. We’re changing that.
Our formulas start with two simple questions:
- Is it truly eco-friendly and non-toxic to marine life?
- Does it perform as well as (or better than) traditional chemicals?
If the answer to both is YES, we proceed with rigorous testing, including toxicology reviews, safety data sheet analysis, and expert validation from chemists, biologists, and yacht professionals. Only after meeting our strict S.E.A. criteria do we put our name on it.
The S.E.A. Standard
- S – Safe for marine life, listed on the EPA Safer Choice ingredients list.
- E – Eco-friendly through absorption, dissipation, hydrolyzation, or biodegradation in the ocean.
- A – Approved by marine biologists, chemists, and professional yacht crew.
The Current Problem: Industry Greenwashing
Between a yacht’s deck and the ocean, there are no aquifers, rivers, or treatment plants—just direct chemical discharge. Yet, the marine cleaning industry is rife with misleading certifications and false eco-claims:
- MARPOL Convention – Does not regulate washdown chemicals.
- IMDG Code – Classifies all chemicals as potentially hazardous to marine life.
- Clean Marina Program – Certifies marinas, not products, and is often misused by brands.
- EPA Safer Choice – Primarily evaluates land-based cleaning products, with limited marine-specific certifications.
Ingredients That Matter
We avoid harmful substances like sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, and sodium lauryl sulfate—all commonly found in conventional boat soaps. Instead, we use marine-friendly, biodegradable alternatives, including:
- Edible-grade natural waxes (Carnauba), salts, and essential oils
- Eco-friendly surfactants like Soap Bark and Coconut Soap Extract
- pH adjusters like citric acid and baking soda
- Safe antimicrobial agents like fractionated coconut oil
We are realists—all cleaning has some environmental impact. But our mission is to reduce harm in every way possible, always.
The SEA Society – Save Our Ships, Save Our Seas
As part of our commitment to long-term change, we founded The SEA Society, a transparent endorsement initiative that quantifies environmental impact to help yacht crews make informed decisions. Through this initiative, we donate a portion of our profits to marine conservation and restoration projects.
Because our oceans deserve better—and we’re here to make sure they get it.
One Last Thing…
What is S.E.A.?
S.E.A. is our future. She is your legacy. She is the next generation of ocean stewards, and she is why we do this.
Join us in making waves for a cleaner ocean.
