Patent Pending! Not just another cross industry hack, this is both under final stages for utility and design patent making it, as well as our teak caulking chisel something that we believe in and have invested heavily in.
Why trim your caulk seams? Simple, plantation teak is not as dense as Burmese teak. Most modern teak cleaners (except ours) will rapidly eat away at the lignin (hard) and cellulose (soft) fibers of your teak. Our powder cleaner does not so is from the ground up designed to be safe for plantation teak (most new builds).
It's during this cleaning and rain cycles when teak gets groovy and grainy and caulking gets proud as it's resistant. When this happens the caulk seams become proud usually meaning sailors use stronger and stronger cleaners because the scrubbing tool is skipping over the caulk seams, popping the doodlebug off the holder. So, imagine sanding just the center of the teak with 80 grit and then the outer near the seams with 500 grit sandpaper on a monthly basis... well then you get cupping. This more than halves the life of a teak deck because the rain and cleaning creates a snowball valley effect. By leveling your caulk seams annually you will save on cleaning, sanding and double the life span of your teak because the wear as well as water pooling and hydraulic action of rain or hoses now do not have
Our answer...
Say goodbye to razor blades, scrapers, and sanders. The Proud Seam Leveler is your go-to teak caulking tool — re-engineered by yacht crew for yacht crew. We tested existing tools but found they either left the caulk seam too high or started to rip up the grain of the teak. There are over 9 individual changes that make this a nearly perfect tool. We sold out of our first 100 in under 2 weeks.
Handmade with precision, each tool takes over 2 hours to craft and is built for a lifetime of use. The result? A perfectly balanced, chisel/ razor-grade blade that levels caulk without snagging your grain — no gouging, no fuss.
The Story Behind the Tool
After years of sliced fingers, burnt backs, and budget constraints, we reached our limit. Store-bought chisels and razors just didn’t cut it, especially when you’re dealing with 12,000+ sq ft of teak on a 90m yacht.
So, we got to work. Over 20 prototypes later, we created a tool that glides like a dream. No sticking, no dragging, just a smooth, controlled cut that protects your teak and your time.
Each leveler features a premium stainless blade, 3 replaceable blades and protected in its own custom pouch. Finished with the Simple Sailor love, it’s a tool built for pros and built to last.

The IMO and MARPOL Codes do not yet have a list of approved, straight-to-the-point chemicals for deck washing, but they do point sailors to the IMDG code for guidance. Avoid greenwashing by shunning labels showing CLEAN MARINAS or MARPOL ANNEX 8 COMPLIANT.
Warning: Decks slippery when solution applied, tread carefully!
